Her name is Valerie Carrey and she’s an artist. I first met her through email and together, along with her model and our mutual friend Aniela, we talked. We shared ideas and put our schedules together on more than one occasion. It isn’t easy scheduling around children, school, jobs, and date night. Quickly, our emails began to pile together as we all had such great ideas for the shoot. Valerie wanted to display her wonderful talents through a pretty photoshoot with natural light to spice up her website and portfolio. And I? Well, I wanted to see Valerie in action and showcase my best representation of her art. And learn how to do my make-up better. :) We met for the first part of our shoot and had time for 2 bridal looks, complete with hair & make-up. In between shoots, I sat and soaked up as much information as I could. Alas, my brain couldn’t cope any longer so I got a paper and pencil because people, there’s SO much to remember! Brushes, brands, bump-its, teasing, application techniques…. it’s rather endless. The afternoon turned into a total girl fest complete with make-up tips, dry shampoo debates, and boy talk. We quickly became friends and I’m proud to share Valerie’s amazing talents with you all in part 1 of our wonderful shoot. Part 2 is currently being scheduled around, yep you guessed it, children, school, rain, and date night. Here are a few of my personal favorites from the shoot. I hope you enjoy these!
The first look was vintage with a touch of glam … and would you believe that Valerie whipped up that hair piece in less than 2 minutes?
Aniela is not only drop-dead gorgeous, but she apparently thinks I’m hilarious. Right, Nel? ;) Because of threatening rain clouds, we shot around Aniela’s perfect house and used props that were lying around…. like, oh you know, this PERFECT BIKE I WANTED TO TAKE HOME. Take, not steal. :)
The second look was a more evening, formal look. Happy Friday everyone!!
