Mid Century Modern Mirror over the Sofa

Nov 9th

Mid century modern mirror – When you have a small living room, placing a framed mirror strategically over the sofa makes the room feel bigger and reflect light. But when a mirror hangs over the couch, it can be tricky to decide what other decor is going well with the mirror. The goal is to find pieces that will accentuate your mirror. After all, if you found it quite enough to hang out, others should appreciate it too.

Hang your mid century modern mirror at eye level vertically about its rectangular shape. In this way the mirror is at the top of the sofa. Install a floating shelf on the wall, a few inches below the bottom edge of the mirror. Select a shelf that is approximately the same length as your mirror. This will help to anchor your mirror, much like a fireplace mantle should. Add accents to the left and right sides of the mirror. These can be lamps, candle bars, or even smaller matching mirrors. Leave as much space between the side edges of your mirror and your accents as you did between the bottom edge of your mirror and your floating shelf. This creates uniformity while at the same time draws your eye to your mirror.

Observe natural light reflected in the mirror. Open your blinds, at least in part, to emit some light, which will be reflected in the mirror and make your room feel big and warm. Dress up your window. Since visitors will now mainly look at your window twice – once at the window itself and once at the window mirrored in your mirror – you want it to be a beautiful access to the room. Position lighting strategically around the room so that it’s reflected in the mid century modern mirror. This will help to shine the room drastically.
